Bedtime Parenting Tips - How To Get The Kids To Bed
05/02/2010 by FeedCrazy.
Some children even though they know that they are tired, do not want to miss out on any of the action or excitement. They want to spend as much time with mom and dad as possible. They can even see the fact that they have to go to bed before their parents as unjust and even cruel. These types of children will want to disrupt and even avoid going to bed at all cost.
When I was a child I had a speech impediment known as stuttering. I was desperate to find out how to stop stammering and was aware that I would stutter more if I had had a lack of sleep the night before.
I myself have two young children and have been through this experience myself. The step-daughter is a person who requires a certain amount of sleep to ensure that she performs to her optimum on the next day - she can also become rather fractious if she has had a lack of sleep. As a parent it can become very frustrating as well as upsetting when you see your child crying because they do not want to go to bed. Comments like, please dad just one more program on the television, were far too regular, and at times I felt like backing down.
After reading numerous books on the subject of being a parent I now have the solutions to deal with this situation. Each child now has a set time when they have to be in bed by. This is a time that they have both agreed to!
They get changed into their pyjamas around half an hour before this time, and then can either spend that period of time playing with their toys or watching the television. If they want to play, we ensure that the games are relaxing ones and not too energetic.
You may well be wondering why I am so eager to get my kids to bed. Well it is because I need my own rest other wise I am a moody person at work the next day where I sell external doors as well as cheap hotel deals on a part time basis.
If there is a program that is on later than their agreed bedtimes, I agree to video it for them, this way they know that they are not missing out etc.
I have agreed that I will read them a story at bedtime. This is something they both love and helps them to wind down and relax. The kids are also allowed to take a drink of their choice with them to bed; this saves them from having to walk downstairs later in the evening. This drink must however not be fizzy as this can do far more damage than good.

Have Fun Picking Baby Crib, Cradle And Bassinet Bedding
05/02/2010 by FeedCrazy.
When choosing bedding for your baby’s crib, cradle or bassinet you can be serious or not. You always have to consider the likelihood of your baby making a total mess of the bed either because of sickness or as a part of the natural order of things. If you can’t face that you might as well purchase plastic bedding right off the bat and be done with it. It won’t be all that attractive but at least you won’t drive yourself crazy. If you decide to buy baby bedding you’ll find there are plenty of selections to choose from.
Those who are a bit betwixt and between would likely want to make sure the colour scheme of their nursery bedding matched their baby’s gender. Social conventions are much looser these days but it’s safe to say that blue for boys and pink for little girls is the norm. Even after all these years those parents who worry that their baby might have a sexual identity crisis want all the passers-by who peek into the stroller to know whether their baby is a boy or girl choose the appropriate color for clothing and bedding. Once you have decided on bed sheet sets you might want to look at the bed options as well. Best sellers such as Seed Organic Cradle for babies are a great option but there are so many quality items to choose from you are unlikely to go wrong.
Most conservative mothers and fathers want to make sure they buy good quality goods that won’t fall apart after the first washing and this concern certainly applies to the products they acquire for their children as well.
If you are a bit more relaxed about choosing baby bedding you might consider a more cheerful choice. For the many mums and dad out there who have a fun and creative aspect to their baby-rearing there is no end to the assortment of cartoon, movie, tv and storybook characters that manufacturers are using as themes for their bedding. You might decide to purchase from the JL Childress baby nursery accessories options but there’s no end to the selections that will co-ordinate well with the bedding you buy.
The first step in your baby bedding selection procedure is to take a long, hard look in the mirror and figure out whether your personality is more serious, more conservative or more independent. Abandon any preconceived notions you have about yourself and determine what type you really are. Once that’s done you need to evaluate the various baby bedding options available to you. Then, of course, the final step is universal to all consumers – haul out your credit card and make a purchase.

Cypress Springs Residence
05/02/2010 by FeedCrazy.
Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s Disease can be a challenging and sometimes overwhelming task. Cypress Springs Residence for Alzheimer’s Disease can help provide the care your loved one needs if they have been diagnosed with this condition.
Basic care of a patient suffering from this diagnosis can cause the caregiver to have new demands placed upon them daily, due to the changing levels the disease poses as it progresses. Cypress Springs Residence for Alzheimer’s has a unique method to aid the patient and family members.
Alzheimer’s Disease is progressive, degenerative, and to date, irreversible condition. Nerve fibers become tangled in the brain and protein deposits develop on the brain. This causes a form of dementia in which the patient, over time, loses their ability to do activities of daily living such as bathing, eating or speaking. Some of the first symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease is memory loss, disorientation and communication problems. They may even show signs of aggressive behavior, and wander off or become withdrawn.
In caring for a patient with this condition there are many strategies for communicating better. Some of these include always approaching the patient from the front so as not to startle them. Should a patient act as though he does not want you to be too close, it’s best to honor his wish and be patient with him. By reducing noise and distractions, the patient will more easily be kept calm. Make sure to speak clearly with a soft tone of voice. It’s always a good idea to move slowly and describe what you are doing. Use simple words and short sentences. Make sure you aren’t tense or hurried, as the patient will pick up on this and it might frighten them. When the person shows signs of memory loss, simply repeat yourself to clarify. Make sure and not confuse them further by using the same words. Keeping things to a routine is soothing to an Alzheimer’s patient, so try to keep things to a routine the patient is comfortable with.
If the person repeats himself by asking the same question repeatedly, be patient and give the same answer each time. If a complex task like bathing needs to be done, try to break it up into smaller parts that are easier.
At times, patients with this condition won’t be able to find the right word they need to convey their needs. The patient will be very frustrated by this. If this should happen, try suggesting words similar to the topic at hand. Don’t correct the patient if he or she uses the wrong word, as it will only frustrate them more and may cause un-needed embarrassment.
If the patient has lost their verbal skills and you need to convey a message to them, try using non verbal communication skills. They may continue to understand that you are smiling at them, or touching their hand gently and trying to comfort them.
Some problems a caregiver might come across while aiding their loved one is problems with incontinence. If this should occur, follow a routine of when to drink so that the patient is always hydrated. If possible, offer to take the person to the restroom at 30 minute intervals. Do not show disgust or irritation with problems concerning incontinence.
At times a patient with Alzheimer’s may not want to bathe. Try scheduling baths at the same time every day in order to reduce the emotional trauma. Hand the patient the wash cloth, soap and other supplies which may help he or she remember what bath time is. Take the patient to the bathing area while you both walk slowly. Make sure the bathroom is a comfortable temperature and well-lit. Stay calm and quiet, using a soft tone of voice. Keep this process simple. Sometimes handing the patient a wash cloth to hold onto will distract them while you bathe them. If it so happens that the patient is being caused too much emotional distress by regular bathing, sponge baths are a vialbe option. Making sure to keep the patient calm and not afraid is the single most important thing to do.
The Tulsa memory support system uses daily exercise in addition to outing and group activities to help residents who suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease. They provide individual plans for each patient based on their specific needs . The staff are well qualified to care for individuals with Alzheimer’s and are always carefully selected and trusted individuals.
In caring for a patient that has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, patience and compassion are of the utmost of importance.
