How To Travel With A Baby And Still Have Lots Of Fun.

Your mother and father most likely never traveled when you were a baby. People of previous generations simply didn’t think this was a viable idea. In our modern world of fast jets and many people with money to travel, you will find that more and more couples are now traveling with babies and toddlers. Just have a look around when you next visit a tourist destination - there are many of them.

If you have twins, or perhaps a baby and a toddler, things are a little more complicated, but it certainly doesn’t mean you can’t travel with them. If you can take them down to the local supermarket in their brand new tandem stroller, you can just as well take them around the world and shop at Harrods in London. With a tandem stroller you can even get through narrow doorways without them having to open the double doors for you.

Planning in advance will make things much less complicated once you arrive at your travel destination. Don’t forget simple things, like baby bath towels. Make sure to bring the baby’s best-loved toys and also any special food he/she needs. And forgetting to bring enough disposable nappies could well turn your holiday into a quite unpleasant experience.

If you don’t have a spa baby yet, this might be the perfect time to get one. What this enables you to do is to bath the baby in an upright position, which they find much less scary than being submerged in water horizontally. If you were 30cm tall and couldn’t swim you would probably feel the same way.

If you are traveling with your own car, or a rental car, a very good idea is to buy a light weight carrier-type car seat for your baby or toddler. With one of these it’s very easy transfer the small one from his stroller to the car and back.

There are certain limitations to traveling with a baby though. It’s simply not a great idea to do so in the middle of summer or when the world is covered under a thick layer of snow. Going to Cairo in July or to Denmark in December might therefore not be the best travel decisions you have ever made. Rather go when the weather is neutral, like in spring or fall (autumn).

Don’t forget to bring your camera along. During the course of your journeys with junior you are very likely to get into situations that you find frustrating at that moment, but in retrospect you will realize how funny it actually was. Pictures like that will in years to come become your favorite travel memorabilia.
